Area Students Honored at Clean Air Partners' Annual Meeting

The Clean Air Partners’ Annual Membership Meeting was held on May 12 at the Marian Koshland Science Museum in Washington, D.C. Following the Board Meeting – during which the Clean Air Partners approved its FY 2010 Annual Work Plan and Budget – an awards presentation and reception was held to recognize the winners of the Clean Air Partners Air Quality Poster Contest.

 

The contest was open to public school students throughout the Baltimore-Washington region and was divided into two categories based on grade levels. The first, second, and third place winners in each category are listed below as well as photos of the first place winners in each category.

 

Category 1 (Grades 4-6):

 

1st Place: Danielle Saman, 4th grade, Sparks Elementary School, Baltimore County Public Schools

2nd Place: Kate Bochicchio, 4th grade, Sparks Elementary School, Baltimore County Public Schools

3rd Place: Abigail Bladen, 6th grade, New Market Middle School, Frederick County Public Schools

Category 2 (Grades 7-8):

 

1st Place: Stephanie Slaven, 7th grade, Francis C. Hammond Middle School, Alexandria City Public Schools

2nd Place: Sarah Fossaceca, 7th grade, Oakdale Middle School, Frederick County Public Schools

3rd Place: Anyi Valencia, 7th grade, Walkersville Middle School, Frederick County Public Schools

Clean Air Partners is a volunteer, nonprofit, public-private partnership chartered by COG and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council. The partnership seeks to improve health and quality of life in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area by educating the public to take voluntary action to reduce ground-level ozone and particle pollution, and to reduce exposure to ozone. COG and the BMC actively support the efforts of Clean Air Partners, with COG providing administrative and financial support.
