Health of the Region’s Population and Health of Chesapeake Bay Discussed in Latest Episodes of ‘The COG Podcast’

Washington, D.C. – With approximately five million residents, the metropolitan Washington region is one of the most populous and diverse regions in the country. How healthy are those five million people? A new report from the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) and Washington Grantmakers (WG) shows dramatic health disparities throughout the region. In the latest episode of ‘The COG Podcast,’ Dr. Kelly Woodward of the Alexandria Health Department discusses the findings and implications of the report.

The Chesapeake Bay is the largest estuary in the United States whose watershed covers parts of six states:  New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia. In a recent episode of ‘The COG Podcast,’ Penny Gross, Vice Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and Chairman of the COG Board of Directors, discusses the successes and remaining challenges in improving the health of the Chesapeake Bay and looks to its future.
